Noise Labelling

In NSW, noise pollution is regulated through the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (POEO Act). The POEO (Noise Control) Regulation 2008 tackles directly the noise problem forcing all sellers and manufacturers to noise label motor vehicles, grass cutting machines, air conditioners, pavement breaker, etc. In fact, the POEO (Noise Control) Regulation 2008 states:

“A person must not sell a machine of a class prescribed under this Subdivision unless IT HAS A NOISE LABEL, SECURELY ATTACHED TO IT IN A CONSPICUOUS POSITION, displaying the machine’s maximum noise level as determined in accordance with Part 5.”
