Project
Hazardous materials risk management audits at 24 NSW Government Buildings throughout Country NSW.

Our Involvement

  • Hazardous materials identification surveys of 24 NSW Government Buildings throughout Country NSW. The hazardous materials investigated included asbestos and synthetic mineral fibre (SMF) containing materials, lead based paints and electrical components containing the class of compounds known as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB’s). The biennial re-assessments were completed in 2000.
  • Risk assessment of identified hazardous materials.
  • Prioritisation of risk assessment findings and recommendations for remediation and management.
  • Recommendations regarding further investigations required.
  • Abandonment of underground storage tanks (both removal and abandonment in situ) in accordance with the requirements of AS 1940-1993 “The storage and handling of flammable and combustible liquids” and the Dangerous Act 1975 at various sites.
  • Organising, supervising and monitoring site remediation programmes as required.
  • Preparation and implementation of Hazardous Materials Management Programmes.
  • Staff Training & Briefing Sessions.

Australia Post Pty Ltd Warehousing & Distribution Services

Project
Asbestos risk management audits at 674 postal facility sites throughout the metropolitan Sydney and Country NSW.

Our Involvement

  • Asbestos identification survey for 674 Australia Post facilities in Metropolitan Sydney and Country NSW. The facilities were initially inspected to identify the asbestos materials in 1994. The first periodical re-inspection of the facilities, to update the registers and risk assessment, was conducted in 1998/99.
  • Labelling of the confirmed asbestos containing materials.
  • Preparation of Asbestos Registers for each site and a State Register.
  • Risk assessment of identified asbestos containing materials.
  • Prioritisation of risk assessment findings and recommendations for remediation and management.
  • Staff Training & Briefing Sessions.

Project
To conduct Environmental Management Audits at each of the three sites listed below:

Our Involvement:

  • Development of the Audit Protocol for each site in conjunction with the senior management.
  • Review of the site features and processes conducted at each site.
  • Review of the waste streams, discharges and emission at each site.
  • Review of the records, licenses etc. for each site.
  • Development of an historical profile for each site.
  • Review of the regulatory status of the site.
  • Preparation of a report to provide the basis for the development of an Environmental Management Programme.

Client

Rider Hunt Terotech acting for QSR Ltd

Project
To conduct Environmental Due Diligence Assessments of 21 Kentucky Fried Chicken outlets in Metropolitan Sydney and Country NSW prior to acquisition of the sites by QSR Ltd.

Our Involvement

  • Development of the Assessment Protocol for each site in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Review of the site features and aerial photographs for each site.
  • Review of the available Council, EPA-NSW, Workcover Authority NSW, etc. records for each site.
  • Development of an historical profile for each site.
  • Conduct indicative hazardous materials surveys for selected sites.
  • Review of chemical storage and hazardous materials handling procedures and general housekeeping for selected sites.
  • Preparation of a report to provide advice to the purchaser on the potential environmental risks.
